The West Coast Trail, shrouded in mist and mystery challenges even the most stout-hearted of backpackers - physically, emotionally and spiritually. So what happens when two men, facing the mid-life doldrums - whose enjoyment of the outdoors revolved around a barbecue and a lawn chair - confront one of North America's top ten hikes? The results are insightful, inspiring and humorous. Using a light hearted style, Bob invites readers to experience the adventure of a lifetime as he and his hiking partner don overweight backpacks, traverse root and mud covered pathways, climb and descend countless ladders, camp on white sand beaches and generally experience a richness of life that most of us only dream about.

Format: Paperback Verified PurchaseBob Bannon seems to have enjoyed his trek on the Western side of Vancouver Island on the West Coast Trail. The many personal anecdotes are funny and informative. Since, we have experienced some of the trail I found the book a good starting place for folks to get an insight in potentially walking this trail. Reading First hand accounts are the best way to gain insight into a future hiking trek.
Cheers it was a fun read. Good Job Bob.
